GROUP: Final Pieces
Here are the final pieces for each aspect of our project. This includes our music video, digipak and two print campaigns
MB: Deadline Week Goals & Contribution
In the final week before the deadline, our video stands cut and timed correctly and is now prepared for the colour correction in DaVinci Resolve. This will involve making the clear distinction between the "dream like" sequence and reality in our piece by enhancing the colours and brightness. I will be taking a lead role in this colour correction process while also helping out on one of the three pieces of print work

GROUP: NME Advertisment 2 Development

We wanted to maintain some of the traditions used by the band in previous print work campaigns, which have mainly focused around the use of the drop logo. However, while we stuck to this principle on the other print, we felt this particular image would not have been as effective with the same design, so instead decided to use the standard "Family Rain" font to maintain some of the conventions of previous campaigns.
We imported the image of "The Family Rain" and "Binocular" to the project, colour correcting them to match using the eyedropper tool on Adobe Photoshop. We wanted the text to be bigger than the previous campaign as the absence of the drop logo made the image look empty. We also made the decision to make the Binocular font significantly bigger than The Family Rain, so it becomes the focus of attention.

BBK: Deadline Week Goals and Contribution
In the final week we have been working towards the final touches to our video and digipak. Our edit is completed after working on the After effects software in producing our initial shot. In order to make the meaning clear within the video that the shots where the two characters are together are not real we have established a colour scheme to separate to two realities. However we had some problems with colour grading in Premiere Elements and have exported the footage and importing it into DaVinci Resolve for superior colour enhancement.
Together with the other group members I have both worked on Premiere and given creative input into the editing process, I have been recording our process over blogger.
This week we have also been focusing on our digipak production, I have been working on the front panel developing it from the mock-up by selecting and enhancing particular colours in reference to our video and the other panels being produced by other members of the group in order to create a flowing package. Along with this I have been developing a print advertisement from my previous mock-up with contributions from the others in the group.

GROUP: NME Advertisment 1 Development

In order to develop the print further we have decided to take it into Adobe Photoshop software which will provide a wider range of adjustment tools in order to add another dimension to the piece. The aim in Photoshop was too allow the fire to be seen through the font within the logo as well as other adjustments.
I started by increasing the contrast of the image making the glow from the fire more intense and increasing the warm colours such as orange and red that light the two figures. I then imported The Family Rain Drop logo and used the selection tools to place the fonts made by Max previously over the drop. Then by selecting and deleting the font in the layers it allowed the text to form a stencil through the logo. I then repeated the process with the original Family Rain font produced by the bands previous marketing.
Following this process I found that due to the heightened contrast the white glow in the centre of the flame had become flat and increased in scale. as this is the portion of which the flame can be seen through the font I had to use brush tools in order to make this area more orange to be able to see the font. In the selection of brushes I was able to find one that resembled smoke and by selecting existing colours within the fire I filled in the core white flame. The quality of the background images flame did not have to be realistic as it would only be partially visible through the text.
I continued by dragging the tear drop logo into the background image with the select and movement tool and placing it symmetrically in the centre of the image as it is in other Family Rain advertisements.
Once this was completed I imported and cropped more drop logos to represent stars awarded by NME, this being our chosen magazine. I selected block fonts to resemble the logo of NME and left them at the bottom creating a flowing reading path around the bottom of the logo. Starting from the top of the smoke, down to the review and leading onto the release date, this being more vital information.
This will run as a half page advertisement with a 22cm width and 13.5cm length.
GROUP: Music Video Production Update
Over the last week we have been able to complete our edit for the video, all cutting rates and rhythm of shots is complete and we have also completed the production of our opening shot in Aftereffects software enabling the text to go behind the protagonist in the initial tracking shot.
However once completed we came into issues with the adjustment of colour in our shots, we felt that the capabilities of the Premiere Elements software we have been using we not able to produce the colour grading and separation we required for our researched visual tone and style. In order to develop our colour enhancement we have exported our edit and imported it into new DaVinci software with more qualified abilities of colour manipulation.
Coming onto a new software comes with adjustment and learning and so we have been working towards progressing with our skills in order to work through efficiently.

GROUP: Todays Progress 1/12/14
Today we have been working on the edit timeline, placing our newest footage in that will be the opening of the firework scene. We have gone through our footage naming and organizing it before importing it into the Premier Project that we have been working on. The new footage is minimal and the times required for them has already been designated within the edit. We have also been developing our digipak imagery in Adobe Photoshop adjusting the visual style with Brightness and Contrast and colour mixing tools.
GROUP: Sevenoaks Christmas Lights Shoot
Our shoot on Friday the 28th went ahead as planned as weather conditions were ideal. We got to the location ahead of schedule in order to view the size and density of the crowd. There were lots of spectators however we found a few areas of the high street that were more sparse enabling for more movement in particular shot in which the cameraman would have to go backwards. All the shots involved were handi-cam and were done using Flycam steadying equipment in order to maximize the smoothness at our shots during fast movement. We completed all the shots necessary by 7:30, finalising our filming in total enabling us to complete the edit.
GROUP: Production Update
Today we have been working on effects for our text in the opening shots of the video. In the initial tracking shot we wanted the text to move in behind the protagonists head rather than covering his face. To do this we have been working with After Effects software by cutting out the protagonist frame by frame to that we can then overlay him on an outer layer to the text.
