BS: Concept Ideas 'Alexander' by The Family Rain (2014)

The Family Rain "Alexander" - Lyric Video

Narrative: The opening line of this track establishes a character "Alexander", the song outlines the hardships within her life, and shows how she won’t let anybody into her life to help
Location: There is a short introduction to this track in which I envisage the band standing in a small low lit recording studio, all in shot playing their instruments. As the narrative evolves there would be parallel lines of action with one line on the band playing their instruments, the other line of action would follow the character of "Alexander" in which she would be acting the lyrics where possible
Performance: Within this video I feel there should be some performance aspect from the band, which I will present in short clips, but the majority of the video should be narrative related
Costume and Props: The costume will all be ordinary to simulate a real life account, and the band should be wearing their normal clothes to enhance the band's coherent style to keep it constant to what is seen within press
Lighting: Within the short clips of the band in the recording studio the lighting will be low key, this will separate this line of action from the realistic natural lit scenes of the character and create a sense of detachment
Colour: Within the shots of the band I want the colour to be warm and comforting, with darker orange and yellow colours. The other line of action would be natural lighting perhaps rainy or darker weather when applicable to sadder parts of the narrative
Post Production: Within this video there will be very little after effects or editing done. The only example of any post production would be overlaying the title of the song just before the lyrics start and the character of "Alexander" is introduced.
Camera: Facial close-ups will be used for both lines of action, close ups will be used to introduce the band focusing on the instruments and the band members faces. Facial close-ups will also be used to establish the character of "Alexander" and seen later in this narrative line of action. Other than close-up shots medium long shots and long shots will be used to show the performance aspect of the band, as well as following the character in the narrative section of this video.

  1. I like the parallel lines of action ideas and the use of different lighting to create alternating tones.
